Washington, D.C. - Despite continued challenges in the House, this week in Washington I continued to address the issues most important to our district. I am fighting to secure our southern border, fight inflationary spending, and condemn Hamas and their allies for their heinous attacks on Israel. As I continue to urge my colleagues to get back to work, I welcome you to share your opinions with me.

Earlier this week, I met with North Texans from Ultimate Home Health Care. It was great to learn more about their work to provide access to quality care in our community.

Then, I joined members of the Generalized System of Preferences Coalition about the important benefits of a strong GSP program. Thank you for your work to advocate for American companies and workers!

Later, I had the pleasure of congratulating North Texan, Stephen Chipman, for his selection as a 2023 Angels in Adoption Honoree. The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute selects honorees that demonstrate commitment to improving the lives of children in need of permanent, loving homes. I want to thank Stephen for his extraordinary contributions in adoption, permanency and child welfare!

On Thursday, I joined my Ways and Means colleagues for an Oversight Subcommittee Hearing to investigate pandemic fraud and prevent future fraud. We must continue to investigate how this fraud was committed so that we can correct and refine future programs. You can watch our hearing by clicking here.

Later, I was happy to have the chance to speak with Dr. Valeria Makeeva from Radiology Associates of North Texas! I appreciated hearing her perspective and learning more about her experience practicing imaging in our district.

Texas-24 Work of the Week

This week, I am fighting to hold the Small Business Administration accountable for their decision not to collect pandemic loan repayments under $100,000.

These loans were never meant to be forgiven. For the sake of taxpayers being forced to foot the bill, we must continue to demand answers on this alarming decision.

Texas-24 Hometown Hero

This week's Texas-24 Hometown Hero is retired Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service DFW Field Office, William Smarr.

SAIC Smarr spent almost 25 years protecting our nation. Thank you for your service!

TX-24 Congressional App Challenge

I encourage all interested middle and high school students to submit your work to The Congressional App Challenge!

The competition deadline is November 1st at 11:00am CT. Don’t miss the opportunity to have your work digitally displayed in the U.S. Capitol.

You can find more information here. I’m looking forward to seeing all of your projects!
