Ask anyone you meet in communities like ours, and they'll tell you that we're facing real challenges that demand urgent solutions.

The rising cost of living, the struggle for fair wages and dignified benefits, the opioid crisis, climate change — my friends and neighbors are working harder than ever to make ends meet, and they deserve leaders who do the same.

But instead of working to solve any of these important issues, Republicans have shut down the House for more than two weeks because of their own partisan infighting.

And the chaos isn't even the worst of it, friend. Their main nominee for Speaker of the House was Jim Jordan — the far-right extremist who helped mastermind Trump's plot to steal the 2020 election.

The fact that Jordan was even considered for the Speakership shows just how far the Republican party has slid into extremism. They would rather put an election denier in charge of the House of Representatives than make a compromise to deliver results for working people.
