John: Another day, another failed Speaker vote.

If it wasn’t clear before, it certainly is today: this Republican House majority is dysfunctional and cannot be trusted with the responsibility to lead or govern.

For more than two weeks now, the House has been rudderless and in disarray. We are crippled by a majority without the interest, will, or maturity to fulfill even their most basic responsibilities. When our constituents voted for us and elected us last November, they put their faith and trust in us to work for them every day — even when it gets hard or frustrating — to alleviate suffering and continue pushing for that more perfect union.

But at a time of unprecedented challenges around the world and across our own country, House Republicans are consumed with in-fighting and threats to gain power. We have to be better. We have no choice. So we must get to work to make change happen. All of us.

I am committed to doing everything I can — including raising the funds we desperately need to flip as many as 7 Republican-held seats here in California.
