Ballotpedia exists to fill the ballot information gap, providing vital information about federal and state elections, municipal elections in the country’s largest cities, ballot measures, public policy, and, this November, covering all school board elections in seven states (Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington).

How much we can grow in 2024 depends, in no small part, on friends like you. Louisiana will have a Republican trifecta in January

Louisiana held their statewide primaries on Oct. 14. Louisiana uses the majority-vote system. All candidates, regardless of party affiliation, run in the same primary. A candidate who wins more than 50% of the vote wins the election outright.

Jeff Landry, Louisiana’s Republican attorney general, won the gubernatorial election outright with 51.6% of the vote. That guarantees that Louisiana will have a Republican trifecta when he is sworn into office as the state’s 57th governor in early 2024.
