Rep. Jim Jordan the speaker of the House. 

Dear MoveOn member,

House Republicans were the first in history to pass a motion to vacate to
get rid of former Speaker McCarthy and now the House must select a new
speaker. The House of Representatives remains in chaos, and Rep. Jim
Jordan is Republicans' next pick for the role of speaker.^1

Rep. Jordan is notorious for his extremism and founded the far-right,
fearmongering Freedom Caucus in 2015—which contains fellow extremists Matt
Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene.^2 Trump's top ally, he has protested or
interfered in every congressional inquiry and investigation into the
former president and is known for his radical positions on abortion,
same-sex marriage, vaccines, and climate change.^3,4 

Our country deserves better representation. Republicans need to choose the
people over extremist politics for once.

Our institutions—and, quite frankly, just general normalcy—are at stake.
Chaos will ensue if Jordan gets picked as speaker of the House, and
extremists within the Freedom Caucus will only be emboldened.

The American people are the ones who will continue paying the price for
the GOP’s circus, and we don’t want Jim Jordan leading the way from the
right in order for us to get the deal we need to fully fund the government
in the meantime.
