Friend,
At AU, we know that religious freedom protects everyone’s right to be true to themselves and make their own decisions about both religion and reproductive health care. Without religious freedom, there is no reproductive freedom.
That’s why June Medical Services v. Russo, a major reproductive rights case that the Supreme Court heard today, poses such a serious threat to our constitutional promise of separation between religion and government.
I was in the Court to hear oral arguments this morning, and now I’m back at the AU offices writing to you for one simple reason: If our movement does not give its all to protect reproductive freedom, the government will impose the religious beliefs of one privileged group on all of our personal decisions. The result will not only decimate access to abortion care in Louisiana, but could have the ripple effect of undermining both reproductive and religious freedom nationwide.
Today, please consider donating $50 to help us protect the separation of church and state – it is the ultimate safeguard for reproductive freedom: [link removed]
The attacks on reproductive rights don’t stop with abortion care. The Trump administration is doing everything it can to allow employers and universities to use religious beliefs to deny employees and students access to birth control.
AU and our allies are in court to stop it, representing Notre Dame students who lost insurance coverage for birth control as a result of both Trump’s unconstitutional rules and an illegal backroom deal negotiated in secret between the administration and the university. Next month, reproductive freedom will be back before the Supreme Court when the justices hear a related case challenging Trump’s birth control rules.
In the face of today’s challenges, please donate what you can to bolster AU’s defense of reproductive freedom and religious freedom: [link removed]
Thank you for your generous support.
In solidarity,
