Salaam,
In recent days, we have witnessed unspeakable acts of violence that have left us all in a state of shock and sorrow. The loss of innocent lives and the suffering of the Palestinian people have touched our souls in ways words cannot fully convey. It is impossible not to be deeply affected by the images and stories that have flooded our screens.
Our work at Emgage to address this crisis has been marked by resolute action, collaboration, and unity. Here is an overview of our ongoing efforts:
-
High-Level Advocacy: We have engaged with top government officials, including the National Security Advisor and other White House team members. In these critical discussions, we emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire and called for an end to dangerous and painful anti-Palestinian, anti-Muslim, and anti-Arab rhetoric. We firmly believe that more can and should be done to address the root causes of the ongoing crisis.
-
Community Engagement: Emgage has been actively working with Congress members, state and local leadership, and media outlets to amplify the voices of those affected. Our CEO, Wa'el, did an interview with Dean Obeidallah on SiriusXM Progress calling for a ceasefire. We are continuously activating our local networks among our state chapters to create a groundswell of support and advocacy for a just resolution.
- Three Critical Calls to Action:

The tragic murder of six-year-old Wadea Al-Fayoume in Illinois, driven by anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hatred, is a stark reminder that the vile forces of prejudice and hatred are still among us. Wadea's innocent life was extinguished, leaving us all shattered and questioning how such an act of cruelty could happen on our own soil.
As a parent, I cannot help but see my own son in Wadea and in the beautiful faces of every child who has fallen victim to this senseless violence. In this moment, it is essential for us to acknowledge our feelings and to recognize the pain and anger that may be consuming our hearts. We are all deeply affected by the collective grief and loss, and we are all struggling to make sense of the senseless, to operate amidst the chaos, and to find a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.
I want you to know that we see you, we feel you, and we share this collective pain. Our unity and compassion are our greatest strengths during times like these. Together, we can offer our support to those who are suffering, both in Gaza and within our own communities. With the tawfiq of Allah, we can stand against hatred, prejudice, and violence, and work towards a more just and peaceful world.
In this challenging time, let us draw strength from each other and renew our dedication to making the world a better place. Together, we can make a difference, and together, we can heal: inshaAllah.
