Shred and recycle confidential material. Pioneer Secure Shred staff collects and secures material into a locking security container and transports it directly to the mobile shredding vehicle.

Oct. 21: Dakota County Fix it Clinic
Noon-3 p.m. Pleasant Hill Library, Hastings
Get items fixed or mended for free and learn useful repair skills! Volunteers help you figure out what's wrong and fix your broken items. Clinics build community and reduce the amount of stuff thrown in the trash.

Oct. 28: National Prescription Drug Takeback Day
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Mendota Heights City Hall
Proper disposal of unused medication is important not only to prevent abuse, but to protect the environment.
Take advantage of this safe and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs - during this takeback event, pull your vehicle into the roundabout in front of City Hall for convenient drop off and assistance if needed.

Ready to Vote?
Although there are no city offices up for election this year, there will be three different elections within 30 days for most Mendota Heights residents:
1. Tuesday, Nov. 7, voters in School District 197 are asked to go to the polls and elect four school board members and answer two referendum questions. For information on where to vote, visit isd197.org/vote2023
2. Thursday, Nov. 16, voters in Minnesota House District 52B (Mendota Heights voting precincts 2, 3, 4, and 5) are asked to go to the polls for a Special Election Primary to select candidates for the 2023 Special Election. To find your voting precinct, visit pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us. Absentee/early voting for the Primary begins Nov. 8, at City Hall
3.?Tuesday, Dec. 5, voters in Mendota Heights voting precincts 2, 3, 4, and 5 are asked to go to the polls for a Special Election to fill a vacancy in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Absentee/early voting for the Special Election begins Nov. 27, at City Hall.

Compost Fall Yard Waste
Just in time for fall yardwork, the South St. Paul Compost site is now open for the season.
Yard waste including grass clippings and leaves can be dropped off for $1 per bag.

Pumpkin Composting

Pumpkins are a great source of nitrogen for compost! Every part of a pumpkin is compostable - skin, meat, stem and guts. Stop by and toss your pumpkins into the large dumpster so they can be composted! No candles, paint or other decorations, please.

Reuse Series 2: Sewing and Mending for Beginners
Nov. 4; 1-2:30 p.m. West St. Paul City Hall
Don?t let a missing button or a small hole get between you and your favorite clothes! Come to this free class to learn basic sewing skills such as sewing a button, using pins, snaps and hooks, a simple hem and patching from local seamstresses Rachel Lind and Lois Larsen. Feel free to bring any of your own supplies or fabric scraps you want to practice with. The first 10 people to register will receive a small sewing kit to use and keep! This class is free, but registration is required.
