October half-term is just around the corner and we want families to enjoy a free or cheap days out at our heritage sites, libraries and many more venues across the city. With tours, trails, ‘make & take’ activities and outdoor cinema, there is something for everyone over the holidays.
On Tuesday 31 October there will be free admission to Nottingham Castle as a part of the Nottingham Halloween Festival in partnership with It’s in Nottingham. Free face painters, selfie stations and family-friendly ghost hunting adventures will be across the Castle grounds.
Throughout half-term, hear the myths and legends in the Hooded Horrors Halloween Tour of the castle dungeon, indoor ‘Spider’ trails and discover the homes of four families, each with a connection to Nottingham’s history of textiles in Brewhouse Yard.

Nottingham City Council has now accepted powers from the Department for Transport to enforce moving traffic offences in the city, which were previously only enforceable by Nottinghamshire Police.
Starting from early 2024, we'll begin enforcement at four locations, with the aim of making it safer to get around for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. In three of the four locations, we’ll be tackling a minority of motorists who make illegal turns which put walkers and cyclists in danger.

For the next three weeks, Active Nottingham and Nottingham City Council, in conjunction with Sport England, will take part in a local communities’ survey to provide insight into what residents think about physical activity, active leisure, active travel and sporting activities available in your local areas.
This is the perfect opportunity to tell us what you think about services and facilities to help us to shape future developments in your community.
We’d love to hear from everyone in Nottingham. You don’t have to be a member of a gym or leisure facility to have your say. To fill out this short survey anonymously, click here
The survey will close on Monday 6 November.

In the upcoming weeks there will be temporary road closures on Gregory Boulevard due to essential tree works. These are for both the health of the trees and for the safety of local residents.
In the first phase, Gregory Boulevard will be closed for 10 days between Monday 23 October and Friday 3 November. The closures will be in place from 9.30am until 3.30pm each day, with diversions in place for the main through-traffic.
Access to properties, businesses and the Forest park-and-ride site will be maintained by traffic management staff at main points of closure.
