John, here are 3 reasons why the Virginia elections in less than three weeks are so important:

1. Abortion. Virginia is the ONLY remaining state in the South where abortion remains accessible, and has become a safe haven for women across the region. Republicans are chomping at the bit to change that, and if they win a trifecta, they almost certainly will. 
2. LGBTQ youth mental health. Virginia Republicans have introduced 12 bills this year attacking the civil rights of trans people. Thankfully, they were blocked by the Democratic majority — but if Republicans flip the state Senate, they’ll have a trifecta, and these horrific bills will become law.
3. Voting rights. Virginia always has razor-thin margins, particularly in presidential election years. 2024 will be no different, and Republicans are on a rampage to curb voting rights in the state and make it harder for folks to vote early.
