EGLE announces funding available for small businesses to implement pollution prevention and sustainability projects identified during environmental assessments
Small Business Assessment
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is now accepting applications for the Pollution Prevention (P2) and Sustainability Assessment Implementation Program. The purpose of this program is to help small businesses and manufacturers implement P2, sustainability, and in-process recycling recommendations identified during an energy, waste, or sustainability assessment [ [link removed] ].?
EGLE partners with Lawrence Technological University?s Retired Engineers, Scientists, Technicians, Administrators, Researchers, and Teachers (RESTART) Program [ [link removed] ] to perform free waste, energy, and sustainability assessments for Michigan businesses with less than 500 employees and public entities of any size. Michigan State University?s Industrial Assessment Center [ [link removed] ] also offers similar assessments at no cost.
*Who is eligible??*
This year?s funding is available to any small businesses or manufacturer with less than 500 employees that is located in Michigan and has completed an assessment that falls under one of the following U.S. EPA's P2 National Emphasis Areas [ [link removed] ]:
* Food and Beverage Manufacturing and Processing [ [link removed] ].
* Automotive Manufacturing and Maintenance [ [link removed] ].
* Metals Manufacturing and Fabrication [ [link removed] ].
A total of $100,000 is available for projects that meet the scope of work requirements in the Request for Proposals [ [link removed] ] (RFP). A minimum 25 percent match of the total requested grant funds is required of all applicants. Generally, the grants awarded are from $10,000 to $25,000. Applications will be accepted until all funds are committed, or?*March 3, 2024*, whichever comes first.?
