Grocery prices are top of mind for Canadians, and that’s why Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team are taking concrete action to stabilize grocery prices, create more transparency in the industry, and put more money back into Candians’ pockets.

Last month, our Liberal team met with CEOs of the five major grocers and got them to come to an agreement to stabilize food prices.

Here are five ways you'll see improvements:

1. Deliver discounts on grocery staples, price freezes and price matching.
2. Ensure grocery chains will compete with each other to make sure that you get the best price.
3. Create a Grocery Task Force to make sure grocers keep their promises and deliver their end of the deal.
4. Establish the Grocery Code of Conduct to act as a rulebook to ensure supply chains are operating fairly.
5. Launch a food price data hub to alert consumers when and how a price change happens, and enhance transparency into where your money goes before and after you pay at the register.
We will use all tools at our disposal to stabilize prices and bring Canadians relief at the checkout counter.
