Representative Adriano Espaillat Announces Congressional App Competition for Middle and High School Students in the District

Deadline: November 1, 2023. Submit Entries Today!

WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) has launched the 2023 Congressional App Challenge, an annual competition designed to encourage student participation in computer science and coding. This year's competition is open to middle and high school students from New York's 13th congressional district, who may register via the online portal to have their app considered by the November 1st deadline.

Officially launched by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015, this nationwide effort allows students to compete against their peers by creating an application (also known as an “app”). The Challenge is designed to promote innovation and engagement in computer science and accepts any programming language, such as C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or "block code."

The Congressional App Challenge is open to all middle and high school students in the 13th Congressional District of New York.

The winner from the New York's 13th congressional district will be featured on CongressionalAppChallenge.us among winners from across the country.

Representative Espaillat is the first Dominican American to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and his congressional district includes Harlem, East Harlem, West Harlem, Hamilton Heights, Washington Heights, Inwood, Marble Hill and the north-west Bronx. First elected to Congress in 2016, Representative Espaillat is serving his fourth term in Congress. WASHINGTON, DC – El congresista Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) lanzó el Desafío de Aplicaciones de Congreso (CAC) de este año, conocido como Congressional App Challenge 2023, una competencia anual diseñada para fomentar la participación de los estudiantes en informática y codificación. La competencia de este año está abierta a estudiantes de secundaria e intermedia del distrito congresual 13 de Nueva York, quienes pueden registrarse a través del portal en línea para que se considere su solicitud antes de la fecha límite del 1 de noviembre.
