Dear friend,
I have some bittersweet news: after 16 years with the organization, I will be leaving FAMM on October 25 to become an attorney advisor in the Office of Legislative Affairs at the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP).
In my new role at the BOP, I’ll be working with members of Congress to ensure that they have the information they need to help their constituents with loved ones in prison. There is a lot of desire and opportunity to improve things at the BOP, and I’m excited to be a part of it. Your stories and experiences from the federal prison system will stay with me and inform my work in this new job.
Working for you at FAMM has been the gift of a lifetime. Together, we’ve reformed some of the worst sentencing laws in America in the last 16 years. Tens of thousands of people have come home from prison sooner and received fairer sentences. That work isn’t stopping. Good things are coming from FAMM in the years ahead.
I’m pleased to share that Daniel Landsman will succeed me as Vice President of Policy. Working for FAMM since 2017, he has advocated in Congress and in state legislatures for years and loves our FAMMilies. I have total confidence in Daniel, and he’s already got big plans f or our work across the country in 2024.
I will miss all of you. Thank you for sharing your lives and deepest concerns with me all these years. It has been an honor.
Sincerely,
