We’ve made so much progress over the past few years, [First Name] — and too much is at stake to turn back the clock now.

The more progress we make, the more people with entrenched interests in the drug war fight for a return to the old status quo. They want punitive policies that are proven failures: more criminalization, coercive interventions, and to disappear people who are struggling without addressing the conditions that lead to homelessness and addiction.

But DPA is not backing down. We will continue to take bold steps forward to end the drug war and build a better world that puts people and communities first.

Although we have come a long way, we still have far to go.

Thankfully, we are turning the tide. More and more states are legalizing marijuana for adult and medical use. Others are advancing harm reduction approaches like overdose prevention centers.

In Oregon, the decriminalization of small amounts of drugs has shown how we can shift from punitive policies to public health-based solutions.

Unfortunately, self-serving politicians and talking heads are using progressive drug policy as a scapegoat for society’s problems. They are fueling powerful fear-based media campaigns that distort the truth to tear down our progress and call for a return to the cruel oppressive drug war that hurts people, instead of helping them.

The challenges we face are real. And the solutions must be rooted in science, equity, and humanity — not continued criminalization. Together we will end the drug war and build a better future.

Join us today with a $40 gift, and then vote for your 2024 DPA Member Card!
