Dear John!
We are appalled by the brutal terrorist attacks by Hamas on 7 October in
Israel and by the violence against civilians over these past two weeks in
the Gaza Strip.
Since the very first day, we have been calling on all parties to respect
international law. This includes the immediate and unconditional release of
all hostages and the protection of Palestinian civilians. We also urge the
EU and its member states to undertake every diplomatic effort to help end
this devastating cycle of violence.
In the recent debate in the European Parliament, the Greens/EFA group has
been strongly advocating for a ceasefire agreement.

GREEN COMMUNICATION NETWORK GATHERED IN BRUSSELS
[6]
* Green Communication staff and campaigners from all over Europe also
gathered in Brussels last week to discuss the 2024 European Election
campaign and to exchange ideas and best practices.
* Topics like misinformation and hate speech, the use of TikTok for
campaigning, and many other campaign tools were on the agenda.
* Take a look at our photo album from the event. [6]

Poland
RECORD TURNOUT SIGNALS SHIFT IN POLISH POLITICS
[7]
*
Poland's recent elections broke records with exceptional voter turnout,
driven largely by women and young voters.
* The far-right PiS government lost its majority, making room for a
pro-European government, with the Polish Greens playing a significant role
as part of the Civic Coalition and electing an all female team of three
MPs! [7]
*
This election not only impacts Poland but also represents a setback for
far-right forces in Europe, including Viktor Orbán, and sets a hopeful
precedent for the 2024 EU elections.
Switzerland
ELECTIONS COMING UP THIS SUNDAY
* Federal elections will be held in Switzerland this Sunday. Grüne / Les
Vert.e.s. is campaigning for climate protection and biodiversity, and
against a slide to the right.
* Good luck to the Swiss Greens!
* #ZusammenFürsKlima [8]
South Tyrol
GOOD LUCK TO THE GREENS IN SOUTH TYROL AND TRENTINO
* Regional elections will take place in South Tyrol and Trentino this
Sunday to renew the Regional Council.
* Good luck to Grüne - Verdi - Vërc [9], the Greens in South Tyrol,
campaigning for a greener, more inclusive and sustainable future!
Austria
AUSTRIAN GREENS SECURE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT
* The Austrian Greens successfully pushed for a new Freedom of
Information Act, allowing citizens to access vital public information.
* The Act covers everything from contracts to studies and applies to all
levels of government.
* The Freedom of Information Act will finally put an end to the secrecy
behind which corruption can hide. This is a monumental cultural change in
Austrian governance. Read more. [10]
TILT! PETITION
WE HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS!
[11]
We are one step closer to preventing the opening of the first octopus farm.
After the initial environmental impact assessment, the authorities of the
Canary Islands expressed their concerns, and required a more detailed,
so-called “ordinary” environmental impact procedure. An initiative
going from the second to the first category suggests that it "has
significant effects on the environment," and, therefore, a more exhaustive
analysis is necessary.
The authorities must have realised that, because of the pressure from
NGOs and individual citizens, ALL EYES ARE ON THEM, AND THEY MUST FULLY
CONSIDER THE POTENTIAL IMPACTS OF THIS PROJECT.
We are closer than ever to stop this murderous farm. Do you want to push
this over the finish line? SEND THE LETTER TO THE CANARIAN GOVERNMENT
ASKING THEM TO STOP THIS MURDEROUS FARM.

NO MAJORITY FOR GLYPHOSATE!
Last Friday the proposal to extend the use of glyphosate for 10 years did
NOT pass. A great win, but we are not there yet.
We expect another vote on a shorter extension period in the next few weeks.
Let's put up the pressure:
Sign and share the Greens/EFA’s petition! (We are already over 100,000
signatures.) [15]
