Friends, the current word in the House is that my GOP colleague and twice-failed contender for Speaker of the House, Jim Jordan, will try to push ahead with yet another vote.
Congressman Jordan, I have to tell you: the third time is NOT the charm.
But since we’re here, let’s review his record quickly:
- Jim Jordan has been in Congress for 16 years and has never passed a single bill. Not a single one.
-
Jim Jordan wrote a national abortion ban and voted against the right to birth control.
- Jim Jordan was the instigator behind the 2013 government shutdown that lasted 16 days and the 2018 shutdown that lasted 35 days. (That’s $13 billion in costs to the American people thanks to him.)
-
Jim Jordan led the push to overturn the 2020 presidential election and repeatedly spread the dangerous rhetoric that instigated the January 6th insurrection.
Any one of those things on its own would be enough to completely disqualify Jordan from leading the U.S. House of Representatives. The combination is absolutely appalling.
Jim Jordan is too extreme to be Speaker, full stop.
I’ll vote against him, but that’s not enough. We need to mobilize in full force to take back the House in 2024 and reinstate a Democratic majority.
Will you help? Donate any amount to my re-election campaign today to help make sure I defeat my extreme MAGA opponent and can support other Democrats in tough races.
