Dear John,
The Trump administration wants to increase its power to deport immigrants without a fair day in court through expedited removal [[link removed]] .
On behalf of three organizations that serve immigrant communities, we just filed a lawsuit to stop the expansion of this unchecked authority in its tracks. We are partnering in this suit with the American Civil Liberties Union.

Under the administration’s new rule, hundreds of thousands of individuals risk being deported within hours of apprehension without basic legal protections such as a hearing or an opportunity to speak with an attorney.
It also creates a “show me your papers” regime where individuals—including U.S. citizens—will be forced to prove to immigration officers that they should not be deported.
This latest attack on immigrant communities makes a mockery of justice. With your support, we will continue to fight these attacks and champion due process rights [[link removed]] .
Sincerely,
