Friend,
We don't have to live like this.
Politicians who refuse to take action to reduce gun violence are complicit in the carnage we saw in El Paso and Dayton last weekend, and in countless mass shootings. If we're going to truly confront this uniquely American problem, we have to speak uncomfortable truths.
Over and over again, domestic terrorists have used high powered, military-style assault weapons to kill our children and our families. Now, in the wake of two horrific shootings, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is using the August recess as cover to shield his Republican colleagues from taking action that could address this crisis -- but anger the National Rifle Association.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should immediately call the Senate back to Washington to debate and vote on universal background check legislation that was passed by the House in February. If you agree, will you sign my petition?

For years, Congressional Republicans have blocked action on measures to reduce gun violence and they must be held accountable.
It's time for Senator McConnell and Congressional Republicans to confront gun violence or get out of the way.
Tell Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to schedule a debate and call for a vote on universal background checks right now. Add your name.
