Friend,
Today, I'm headed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Arguments are finally set to begin in the case that challenged Louisiana's 2014 law that would require abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a local hospital.
The outcome of this case will be a landmark decision that will shape the future of our fight to protect the innocent unborn. It will also be the first major abortion decision since President Trump appointed two conservative justices to the high court.
Friend, a favorable ruling in this case is vitally important for two reasons:
- It presents a key opportunity for the Supreme Court to affirm the right of states to enact common sense health and safety regulations, to protect women in vulnerable situations; and
- It also presents an opportunity for the Court to affirm Louisiana's challenge to third-party standing, to ensure that future court challenges to abortion-related regulations cannot be brought by the notorious abortion industry that profits off substandard practices and dangerous clinic conditions.
Before I got elected to Congress, I actually represented the State of Louisiana in the original trial court defense of this commonsense statute. Now, almost five years later, I was proud to join with Senator John Kennedy, Senator Marsha Blackburn, and House Whip Steve Scalise in leading a bipartisan amicus brief to stand up for this pro-life law. In all, 207 members of Congress signed on to the brief with us.
It's clear why the pro-abortion left, including more than 200 Democratic members of Congress, has attacked it...
They don't want ANYTHING standing in the way of their abortion-on-demand agenda!
We must do everything we can to protect vulnerable mothers and innocent unborn children, and the outcome of this case will have far-reaching implications.
Thank you for ALL your past support in the fight for life. We can't let up.
Please make a $5, $10, $25, or $50 special contribution today, to help us get out the word about what's at stake in this case and sustain our fight to protect the unborn.
Sincerely,
Paid for by Mike Johnson for Louisiana
