Supporter, MAGA Republicans have spent years parroting election lies that Republican lawmakers have used to justify an alarming amount of legislation that would restrict our right to vote. In fact, more restrictive laws have been enacted this year than in any year of the last decade except 2021. Congress must do everything it can – and quickly – to protect our freedom to vote. Thankfully there are bills that have been introduced this session that would make great strides in protecting the right to vote, including the Freedom to Vote Act (FTVA) and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (VRAA). These transformative pieces of legislation would restore and modernize the full protections of the VRA, set national standards to increase access to the ballot box, neutralize partisan and racial gerrymandering, protect our elections from interference, increase transparency in campaign finance to prevent dark money from buying our politicians, and more. The FTVA and John Lewis VRAA would ensure that all eligible Americans—from Latino voters in California, to American Indian voters in South Dakota, to Black voters in Georgia—have access to the ballot box and protection against the wave of anti-democratic attacks in state legislatures across the nation. Thanks for all you do, People For the American Way
