John, child poverty in the United States has more than DOUBLED in the last year, resulting in an additional 5 million children experiencing poverty right now.
In one of the wealthiest countries in the world, an increase like this is absolutely unacceptable. Children and families in California and across the country deserve so much better. Here in our state of 40 million people, 20 million people are just one paycheck away from poverty.
Our country has the tools to end child poverty so long as we have the political will to act. I've been committed to fighting this crisis for decades, and I'm not stopping now. But I need to know you stand with me.
Please, before midnight tonight: Will you sign my petition and join me in my fight to end child poverty? I need 13 more signatures from 19125 by midnight to reach my goal.

John, ending child poverty has always been a top priority of mine. That's why I played a key role in passing the expanded Child Tax Credit, which reduced child poverty by 46%.
This policy lifted millions of children out of poverty and gave families critical funding for housing, child care, food, diapers and other basic needs. But Republicans in Congress let this essential program expire, and it's time we put our country's kids first, permanently.
As chair of the Democratic Caucus Poverty Task Force, I will not stop fighting until we make this program permanent and ensure all children have their basic needs met. But I can't do it alone, so, please: Will you add your name to my petition right now to stand against child poverty? With just hours left, I'm counting on your support.

Thank you for standing with me in my fight for progress.
