Hey, ACLU Supporter, Miss Peppermint here.
Maybe you know me from "RuPaul's Drag Race" or for the lead role I originated in Broadway's "Head Over Heels" (The first trans woman to do that, darling!) – but today, I'm writing to you as ACLU's Artist Ambassador for Transgender Justice.
It's LGBTQ History Month, and my community is under attack. Thirty-two bills have been introduced in the United States to ban drag. These bills are part of a nationwide movement to demonize queer people – especially Black and Latina transgender women – but let me tell you something: Me and my queer siblings aren't going anywhere.
There's no way we're going to let these stale, dusty politicians take away our freedom to be ourselves. The ACLU is fighting tooth and nail to strike down anti-LGBTQ legislation, and to help this critical work, I'm reaching out to ask you to join us in raising $100,000 by October 20.
Will you donate now to help the ACLU reach their fundraising goal and keep defending the fundamental rights of LGBTQ people? <[link removed]>

And look, it's not only drag that's under attack. There are over 500 anti-LGBTQ bills moving across the states right now, and most of them target trans kids. That's right: Grown adults are actually passing laws to bully children – banning kids from playing sports, accessing lifesaving health care, and expressing themselves in class.
This is what we call a five-alarm fire, ACLU Supporter, but you can count on the ACLU to put out the flames. Their attorneys and advocates are working with trans kids and families in states across the country to strike down cruel laws that restrict their freedom, and they will continue showing up wherever rights are threatened. But to continue defending LGBTQ people from the latest wave of attacks, we need to reach our $100,000 goal before the October 20 deadline.
So, in honor of LGBTQ History Month, will you help the ACLU continue to make progress for LGBTQ rights? <[link removed]>
Thanks for supporting this important work,
Peppermint
