Choosing a vegan diet full of plant-based nutrition is a great way to align your meals with your morals and empower you to help animals suffering on farms by keeping them off your plate. Beyond choosing not to participate in the cruelty of animal agriculture, eating a vegan diet is also a great choice for your long-term health. The science is clear: eating meat contributes to a wide array of health complications, including cancer and heart disease. So why is the American Heart Association (AHA) saying differently?

Tell the AHA meat isn’t healthy ([link removed])
Recently, the AHA has been giving its “Heart Check” certification mark to certain meat products. The Heart Check is an instantly recognizable symbol that represents the trust the AHA has built with the public thanks to decades of scientific research. But did you know AHA is handing out that seal of approval to meat producers in exchange for a fee? It’s a disheartening - pun intended - move by an organization that has historically been the most trusted source of cardiovascular awareness for millions of Americans. More than that, it puts up a barrier for the vegan movement, misinforming people who want to do good for animals and have questions about the health impacts of a vegan diet. It’s sending exactly the wrong message, hurting animals and the people who would otherwise be exercising their power to stand up for animals by going vegan.

Join us in our lawsuit against the AHA for this breach of trust by donating to our legal advocacy work. ([link removed])

Animal Outlook has brought a lawsuit against the AHA that argues that this pay-to-play labeling of beef products as “heart healthy” goes against their stated mission of helping people “build healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke” and against their own science. We’re standing up for Americans - who are already bombarded with marketing from the meat and dairy industries disguised as health advice - by making sure that corporate interests are not able to buy good will from a trusted authority to mislead people about their own health, undercutting the growth of the vegan movement in the process.

Animal Outlook is here, day in and day out, defending animals, the environment, and human health. But we need your help. Stand with us to send a clear message: Selling your public approval to the harmful meat industry is wrong and threatens the work you and I are doing as part of a broader movement to fight for animals and against the harmful system of animal agriculture. Make a gift today in support of our legal advocacy team that works tirelessly to defend the rights of all of us to stand up for animals.

Please join us in taking a stand today.

With gratitude,

Cheryl Leahy
Executive Director
P.S. Our legal advocacy team is actively working on over a dozen cases all in the name of protecting animals. The best way you can help us continue to protect animals through the legal system is to make a monthly gift ([link removed]) to ensure we’ll have the resources we need to defend animals in court for months to come.
