It's go time.

Today, the Supreme Court considers the latest major case about abortion access, June Medical Services v. Russo, which challenges a Louisiana law designed to close clinics and seriously undermine access to abortion.

We're in D.C. right now for a rally outside of the Supreme Court to support abortion rights and access. Follow along on Twitter! [link removed]

I won't lie-- the stakes of this case are high. We probably won't find out the Court's decision until late June, but here's what we know for sure: while the Supreme Court wields enormous power, states play a critical role in determining what abortion access actually looks like for their residents. And NIRH is working in states across the country to drive proactive momentum to protect and expand access to abortion care.

NIRH has been pushing forward proactive laws at the state level to repeal restrictions just like those in front of the Supreme Court today. At the heart of June Medical is the constitutionality of a TRAP (Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers) law in Louisiana. Just last week, legislators in Virginia soundly rejected the TRAP laws they had on the books when they passed the Reproductive Health Protection Act, a sweeping, proactive bill that rolls back medically unnecessary restrictions on abortion access, and removes political interference from the patient-provider relationship.

Here's the bottom line: no matter what happens, it's crucial to stay focused on the state and local levels. With a robust slate of new 2020 partners all across the country, NIRH is doing just that.

Thanks for being on our team.
