Candidate for U.S. Congress (MN-5), Dalia Al-Aqidi released the following statement condemning Ilhan Omar’s promotion of terrorist talking points that endanger American lives and the Jewish community:

At a highly combustible moment in the United States and the Middle East, Ilhan Omar chose to pour gasoline on the fire by promoting lies that endanger the lives of Americans here and abroad.

Yesterday, in the immediate wake of the deadly explosion at the Al-Ahli Al-Arabi Hospital in Gaza, Ilhan reflexively rushed to blame Israel. The original source of her information was provided by the U.S.-designated terrorist group Hamas, who just 10 days earlier slaughtered 1,400 Israelis and at least 30 Americans. Hamas also took up to 200 civilian hostages – including women, children, and babies. Fourteen hostages are believed to be American citizens.

As we discovered yesterday, and as confirmed by both American and Israeli intelligence sources, it was not Israel but the Iran-operated Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) who misfired a rocket that struck near the Gaza hospital. The evidence even included an intercepted call between two Hamas terrorist operatives during which they admit their fault.

The Great Lie promoted by Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tliab, Hamas, the Palestinian Authority, Hezbollah, and the regime in Iran sparked violent protests outside the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, and unrest in Yemen, Iran, Turkey, Jordan, Tunisia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, as well as in South Korea, Columbia, and Japan.

In Germany, police are investigating an attempted attack on a Berlin synagogue. The historic synagogue in Tunisia was heavily damaged in anti-Israel riots as well. There are real consequences to maliciously spreading lies.

I condemn Ilhan Omar's decision to parrot the terrorist talking points of Hamas that put American lives in danger and feed the flames of extremism and intolerance in our district and across the globe. I call on her to apologize to the Jewish community in Minnesota, who she so callously offends and puts at risk.

I stand with Israel during her time of need and with the families of those Americans killed and taken hostage by the terrorist groups Ilhan supports. We should be thankful that she was kicked off the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where her noxious views posed an acute threat to our country. Now we must finish the job and vote her out of Congress.
