Thanks to Rob, our state’s restrictions on high-capacity firearm magazines will remain in effect – for now.
Good news:
This week, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals granted Rob’s request to keep California’s large-capacity magazine restrictions in effect.
In our fight to save lives and end the gun violence epidemic, California issued a ban on large-capacity firearm magazines, which are capable of holding 10 or more rounds of ammunition, back in 2016.
These high-capacity magazines have historically been used in about 75 percent of gun massacres with 10 or more deaths and in 100 percent of gun massacres with 15 or more deaths in the last 50 years — playing a major role in mass shootings.
Last month, a district court struck down this common sense gun reform, and they got it wrong. The AG fought back by filing a motion to challenge this decision and protect California’s communities from gun violence.
This is a temporary victory for California’s public safety, but if the Court ultimately strikes down the ban, these dangerous firearm accessories could flood into our state and contribute to further mass shootings down the line.

Our state deserves the right to protect its communities from the ongoing gun violence epidemic, and that includes maintaining our long-standing ban on high-capacity weapon enhancements that result in further injury and death.
