Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on several happenings in the district as well as Harrisburg.

Harrisburg Updates

In the House State Government Committee Hearing this week, I spoke in support of H.B. 976 to establish open primaries in Pennsylvania. Currently, only registered Democrats or registered Republicans are able to vote in PA primary elections. This legislation would allow the 740,000 registered unaffiliated voters in Pennsylvania to participate in our primary election process by casting their vote on either the Republican or Democratic ballot. Registered Democrats and Republicans would continue to vote on their respective ballots.

Many military members and veterans consider themselves Independent or party-unaffiliated because they serve to defend the entire United States – but they want to participate in our elections and help to choose our elected leaders. The veteran community is strongly in favor of open primaries.

About two dozen states already have open primaries or non-party registration systems in place, and I believe Pennsylvania has the will and administrative capacity to do so as well so that all voters are enfranchised.  

Election Dates and Reminders

Next Monday, Oct. 23 is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming November election! On the ballot you will find important elected offices including Justice of the State Supreme Court, Judge of the Superior Court, Judge of the Commonwealth Court, Judge of the Court of the Common Pleas, County Commissioners, Clerk of Courts, Controller, Coroner, District Attorney, Prothonotary, Recorder of Deeds, School Board Directors, and more! Sample ballots are available here.

Secure drop boxes will be available to accept mail-in and absentee ballots beginning Oct. 28. There will be 12 drop boxes across the county. Specific locations and hours are available here.

The last day to request a mail-in ballot is Oct. 31.

Lastly and most importantly, Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. All mail-in ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Giant Pharmacy Vaccine Clinic

My vaccine clinic with Giant Pharmacy will take place on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lower Providence Township Building at 100 Parklane Drive, Eagleville, PA 19403.

Influenza, COVID-19 Booster, RSV, and Pneumonia vaccines will all be available. Please bring your insurance & pharmacy cards with you! Walk-ins are allowed but appointments are prioritized.

The Wall That Heals

Next week, Upper Providence Township will begin hosting The Wall That Heals from Oct. 26 to Oct. 29. This Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica Wall and Mobile Education Center is free to the public and will be on display 24 hours a day at Anderson Farm Park.
