DES trimming Douglas Fir on Water Street Friday
Scope & Impact: Seven assigned parking spots and a portion of the sidewalk on the east side of Water Street will be closed on Friday, Oct. 20 for tree trimming as part of Legislative Campus Modernization. In addition, there will be increased noise as a wood chipper is used. Assigned parkers have been notified and signage will indicate the portion of sidewalk that is closed.
Where: East side of Water Street between Sid Snyder Avenue Southwest and 15th Street Southwest.
When: 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20.
Why: The historic Douglas Fir located on the Newhouse Building replacement construction site has several branches that need to be trimmed to make way for construction of the new building. Trimming will not harm the tree.
All work is weather dependent. The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services has contracted with Hoffman Construction out of Seattle for this effort.
