I was just on the House floor to vote down Jim Jordan for Speaker for the second time.

Democrats — and even some Republicans — are united in believing that Jim Jordan is not fit to be Speaker of the House, and we will continue to oppose MAGA extremist Jim Jordan no matter how many votes he calls.

I’ve devoted my first months in Congress to fighting for accountability of lawmakers — lawmakers like Marjorie Taylor Greene, George Santos, and Lauren Boebert, lawmakers who are extremists in many forms. And I remain committed to that cause.

Jim Jordan is a Trump puppet, and choosing him as speaker further emboldens the MAGA wing of the party.

Jordan is an outspoken election denier. He directly aided and supported Trump on January 6th and led the cause to overturn the certification of electoral college votes. And now, he is leading the baseless impeachment inquiry against President Biden.

Jim Jordan is not a lawmaker — he is a tool for Trump to use. I have seen firsthand how he spreads hatred and nonsense over and over again in the House Oversight Committee.

Enough is enough. We should not have extremists running the House and upheaving our democratic process. Every day they waste is another day that stops any work for the American people and pushes us closer to a government shutdown.

And that is unacceptable. We were elected to work for the people, not waste precious time on political games.

So, our best option to make sure this doesn't happen again is to hold extremists accountable at the ballot box in 2024. Let’s make sure that every extremist that held up our democratic process and supported an anti-democracy extremist is unseated and we return power to Democrats — the only united party in Congress ready to fight for its people.
