The latest episode of budget brinksmanship did nothing to solve America's
deeper issues.
While Congress’ choice to fund the government is better than a shutdown, it
only distracts from the real debt problems facing our country and ensures that
Americans will have to relive this crisis all over again in six weeks.
Further complicating matters, the U.S. House is out of session until it elects
a new speaker. The sooner that happens, the sooner Congress can get back to
work solving America’s most pressing issues.

This budgeting dysfunction is also a vivid reminder of the need to hold
leaders accountable, enact principled policies, and defend the policy victories
we’ve achieved together.
Congress can return to the way it used to budget and pass the Prevent
Government Shutdowns Act to keep lawmakers at the table until new spending
bills are enacted.
