More than two weeks since Kevin McCarthy was ousted, and the House still does not have a Speaker. Gridlock, chaos, confusion, dysfunction — this is what happens when Congress is beholden to MAGA extremists.

Along with other congressional progressives, I am doing my best to hold the line for our democracy, for progress, and for a functioning government.

John, we must meet this challenge. House Republicans are nominating Jim Jordan, who still denies the 2020 presidential election results and hasn't passed a single bill in his 16 years in Congress, to be Speaker. If elected, he will continue to empower extremism in the House.

To beat back the stronghold that extremism currently has on the House, it is paramount that we uplift and amplify progressive candidates who will fight against this far-right agenda.

I’m proud to fight alongside my progressive colleagues in Congress, but here’s the truth: 1) Holding MAGA Republicans accountable comes with a cost, and now many of us have become targets of online attacks and 2) We need to elect more progressives like us to Congress.
