Dear John,

The Supreme Court holds immense power in shaping our laws and our lives. That’s why judges should hold themselves to the highest ethical standards, be committed to equal rights, and understand the real-world implications of their decisions on my life, yours, and the lives of women, girls, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. With the Supreme Court back in session and some major court cases on the line that will impact the lives of so many people, we need to ensure our judges are fair and impartial while holding themselves to the highest ethical standards . Recent reports about questionable behavior by some Supreme Court Justices, like Thomas and Alito, have further shaken public trust in the judiciary, and that needs to change.

The highest court in the land should have an enforceable code of conduct.

The Supreme Court is the only federal court without a binding code of conduct and calls for the Court to establish one have been ignored . It's clear that the Court won't fix this on its own. The Judicial Ethics and Anti-Corruption Act will create a binding code of conduct for Supreme Court Justices and strengthen recusal standards, ensuring they decide cases fairly and impartially. It will also prevent conflicts of interest and curb unethical gifts and travel.

We deserve an unbiased court system that will protect our rights, health, and safety. I want to trust that judges are holding themselves to the highest ethical standards, but they’ve proven they will not hold themselves accountable on their own. We need Congress to pass the Judicial Ethics and Anti-Corruption Act today to hold our Supreme Court justices accountable. [[link removed]]
