SPECIAL CASH BAN UPDATE
Liberals, Nationals and Labor Team Up to
Pass the Cash Ban Bill

A much anticipated Senate report into the Coalition’s Cash Ban Bill aka the Currency (Restrictions on the Use of Cash) Bill 2019 was handed down on Friday, and the news isn’t good.

Long story short, the Senate Committee recommended the Bill be passed.

The Senate Standing Committee on Economics is made up of two Liberal Senators, two Labor Senators, a National's Senator and a Centre Alliance Senator.

Seeing as the Committee has recommended the Bill be passed, this means that the Coalition and the Labor party have teamed up to make sure this Bill gets through the Senate.

Published late last Friday afternoon, the Senate report does it best to suppress the arguments of those concerned about this Bill.

The Senate report attacks people who are concerned by stating, “hypothetical scenarios, such as a negative domestic interest rate environment coupled with a cashless society, and future choices the Parliament may or may not make, such as reducing the cash payment limit below the proposed legislated amount of $10,000.”

It even accuses anyone who raises those issues of promoting “conspiracy".

It is disappointing to see, once again, the major party alliance dismissing the valid concerns of everyday Australians and going so far as to insult and smear people who went to the effort of making a submission.

As it stands, One Nation is strongly opposed to the passage of this legislation in any form and will continue to work to ensure this terrible piece of legislation does not pass the Senate.

Cash Ban Is a Dog of a Bill

One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts has been on the front foot arguing against the Cash Ban speaking with Alan Jones this week about why “It’s a dog of a bill” and “a black eye for the government” that will only force more Aussies into the pockets of the big banks.

It is this dogged determination to see the major banks held to account that led Senator Roberts to also table his Banking Amendment (Deposits) Bill 2020 to stop failed banks taking your money.

Senator Roberts' Bill is designed to close loopholes that allow banks to freeze and take their customers money during a bank collapse and amends the 2018 bail-in legislation to ensure the government cannot order a bail-in.
