Dear John,

Our seas are in peril from pollution and climate change. San Diego Zoo
Wildlife Alliance addresses these threats through conservation
science. Please join us. We need allies like you to speak up and take
action in your community, and help us make a difference.

There's still time to sign our pledge. It's a promise to
become more mindful of the world's seas-which hold 97
percent of the water on Earth-and to help take care of our
oceans.

The Oceans Hub Pledge
I commit to becoming a good steward of the oceans and helping
protect marine life and ecosystems.
I pledge to:
Take out what I take in. When visiting beaches, rivers,
shorelines, lakes, and ponds, leave nothing behind but your
footprints-take trash and plastic out when you go.
Become a conscious consumer. Only purchase fish and seafood from
sustainable sources.
Recycle plastic goods and materials that can end up in our
oceans.
Be mindful when boating, swimming, or snorkeling not to disturb or
harm wildlife.
Take care near dune grasses and tidal ponds that provide habitats
for plants and animals.
Speak out. You have a voice in what happens to our planet. Share
your commitment with friends, family, and nature lovers you know.

Saving polar bears in the arctic

[link removed]

San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and our partners are dedicated
to protecting ocean wildlife, including polar bears. The largest land
carnivores, polar bears spend much of their lives swimming between ice
floes in search of food. They have become victims of climate change.

Polar bears' habitat is melting away-literally
underfoot-as their Arctic home is warming twice as fast as the
rest of the planet.

We collaborate with partners including Polar Bears International to
monitor polar bears' movement on Canada's Hudson Bay, as
sea ice continues to disappear and their prey becomes more difficult
to hunt.

Join us in our efforts to save ocean wildlife. Take part in helping
protect polar bears and other marine life, and make a statement of
stewardship by signing our pledge. It may seem like a small step in
the face of immense challenges, but that's how change
begins-with all of us coming together.
