Jim Jordan’s assent into front-runner status says a lot about the Republican Party in 2023.

He isn’t just on the MAGA fringes. Jordan is in a realm all to himself. After trying to help Donald Trump mount a coup, he ignored January 6th subpoenas from the very House of Representatives he’s trying to lead.

Mostly importantly, he has authored draconian legislation attacking reproductive rights, and he’s pushed to slash Social Security and privatize Medicare.
