North Carolina Republicans have abused our redistricting process to gain unfair power.

Their district maps have been obvious partisan power grabs to give some voters more of a say than others and make it harder for Democratic candidates to win.

That’s what they’re planning again this fall, John.

Roy is working hard to ensure that every single North Carolinian has their voice heard in elections to come and that power is not simply consolidated in the hands of the few, including by calling for a Nonpartisan Redistricting Committee to ensure fair district lines.

North Carolina is a toss-up state and our political representation should reflect that reality. But under their own state legislative maps, Republicans drew themselves into a one-vote supermajority — and they’d do the same with our federal maps, too, if given the chance.

In the past, Republicans’ ultra-partisan maps have been thrown out by the courts. Now that the state Supreme Court is under the control of the far-right, we can’t predict what will happen.
