The American people are fed up with dysfunction. So am I. In the midst of horrific wars around the world and a massive affordability crisis at home, Congress can’t govern. It’s not just because the Republicans sabotaged themselves by removing the Speaker, it’s because too many politicians have lost sight of why they are in Washington – to represent We the People in the People’s House.
Right now, politicians are more concerned with scoring points on social media, raising money for their next election, or landing their next job. In other words, they are putting self-interest and special interest ahead of public interest.
What we need is a bold anti-corruption plan that Democrats can run on and implement when we take back Congress to ensure elected officials put people and country first over partisanship. My anti-corruption plan will ban all PAC and lobbyist money from Congress; ban members of Congress from trading stocks; enact term limits for members of Congress and Supreme Court Justices; and ban Congress members from ever becoming lobbyists.
