Jack, Democratic Senator Bob Menendez faces federal charges for allegedly accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes (including gold bars, mortgage payments, cash, and a luxury car) in exchange for political favors, and acting as a foreign agent of Egypt.

This is reportedly the first time a sitting U.S. senator has been accused of working on behalf of another government.

These are only the most recent revelations of corruption from the incumbent senator, who has a history of corruption and evading accountability. It required breathtaking arrogance to engage in a new round of alleged corruption while knowing that the FBI was keeping an eye on him.

U.S. Senate bylaws required Menendez to step down as Foreign Relations chair once he was charged with felonies, but he has rebuffed calls for further accountability.

Everyday Americans have been relentless in our demands for accountability from Donald Trump, George Santos, the Sedition Caucus, and other elected officials who seem to believe they are above the law. While Menendez deserves a fair trial, the people of New Jersey should not have to question the motives behind a senator's actions.
