The pro gun lobby is working hard to defeat the ATF’s proposed new rule, so we must remind ATF officials that the vast majority of Americans support this policy.

You’ve got two options, depending on what time works best for you.

Register for our noon option: 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Register for the evening option: 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

It’s been an exciting month here at WAVE. One reason for this is that the federal government is working to expand background checks! But, for this to become a reality, we’re all going to need to take action!

That’s why we’re hosting three action-taking events. We’re offering a variety of times and formats so you can attend the option that works best for you.

Option 1 (virtual, noon): Thursday, October 19 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Option 2 (virtual, evening): Thursday, October 19 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Option 3 (in-person, noon): Thursday, October 26, Brown Deer Library, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Let me explain a few details: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has proposed a new rule that could drastically reduce the number of gun sales that may take place without a background check. This could be a massive step forward in keeping guns out of the hands of people who, by law, are prohibited from owning them.

Before agencies adopt rules, they accept comments from the public. Right now, the ATF is accepting comments on this proposed rule.

But here’s the rub: the pro gun lobby is working to flood the ATF with “public” comments opposed to this lifesaving rule!

We need to show the ATF where the public really stands! And that’s why it’s critical that you weigh in.

Reserve your spot now to attend our October 19 online events at 12:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m., or sign up to write letters in person on October 26. All options will include an overview of the proposed rule and why it is crucial, guidance on crafting an effective comment, and time, right then and there, for you to write your comments.
