1) Why Iran Loves Biden

Our latest CTUP study on oil production finds that the U.S. is down by two to three million barrels A DAY in domestic drilling (below the Trump-era trend) thanks to Biden's anti-fossil fuel policies.

It turns out that over that same time period, Iran has INCREASED its oil exports by about 1.5 million barrels a day. Below the red bars are the Trump years and the blue bars are the Biden years.

This has put roughly $40 billion more into the coffers of the Iranian government. Terrorists can buy a lot of rockets with that much money.

2) BlackRock and SEC Retreat on ESG

How the tide has turned. Since our landmark study, fund managers have been in full retreat. Now comes the news that Blackrock is lobbying the Securities and Exchange Commission to ease up on ESG (climate change and social justice rules) – and that the overwhelming public backlash against that agency's absurd climate rule has prompted a full rethink.

We're winning. For now.

3) Offshore Wind Projects Are Going Broke

President Biden’s Green New Deal suffered yet another serious blow this week.

The New York Public Service Commission, which oversees utilities, rejected an attempt by offshore wind developers to wring more money from customers to make up for inflationary increases in the price of their projects. In one case, Equinor and BP were demanding a 54% increase because of rising green energy costs.

The Biden White House goal of using wind to power 10 million homes in the Northeast is faltering, with roughly a quarter of projects likely to be delayed or canceled. Since July, four Massachusetts contracts and one in Connecticut have been shelved.

“These companies are losing money hand over fist,” says James Lucier, an energy analyst in Washington.“One of the companies has just admitted that it’s time to be candid about just how much more renewable electricity is going to cost.”

4) Just as We Predicted: 96% Of CDC’s COVID Boosters for Kids Still Unused

Demetre Daskalakis, Acting Director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases said:

"I can tell you that we have orders and shipments of over 800,000 vaccines that have already been done. So we’re actually doing gangbusters business from the perspective of VFC [vaccinations for children].”

The feds spent $1.6 billion on these vaccines that almost no one has used. And the CDC has the temerity to call this performance “gangbusters!” Really?

5) Rural Schools in Texas Will Benefit From School Choice

The Texas legislature is in a special session called by Governor Abbott to enact a universal school choice law. We’re getting close to a blockbuster breakthrough that would benefit more than three million Texas kids. The hold-up is a voting bloc of rural Republican legislators still putting up a wall of resistance arguing this will hurt their local schools.

This is contradicted by two facts. One is that Texas rural schools need school choice because those school districts are underperforming. The chart below shows that on three of four metrics on math and reading these Texas schools lag far behind the national average:

Second, an analysis by the Heritage Foundation of what happened to Arizona rural schools after school choice was enacted found big gains in learning for Arizona’s rural students compared with the nation as a whole, and Texas rural areas. Arizona went up while Texas school performance and Texas scores fell for reading and math.

If facts matter in this debate, then Abbott and kids should score a big victory in the Lone Star State.
