John, did you see this?
John, we are on the cusp of a major victory to fix our broken Electoral College.
Our next critical step in this fight for a better democracy is happening in Michigan. But we have to get Michigan lawmakers to prioritize passing our National Popular Vote bill NOW! We can’t win this long-needed reform without you.
Our sources on the ground are telling us that right now is our best and last chance to pass NPV in Michigan before 2024. And if we succeed, we’ll only need 50 more electoral votes worth of states to join in for NPV to go into effect.
We cannot afford to lose the momentum for this much-needed reform. But Michigan is poised to end its legislative session early, as soon as the end of October. That’s why we’re going all in on this fight right now.
But first, let’s take a step back and look at the big picture:
National Popular Vote is an agreement between states to award their electoral votes to the candidate that wins the most votes in a presidential election.
That means that no one could become president without the majority of Americans’ support – like George W. Bush did in 2000 and Donald Trump did in 2016.
NPV is the long-awaited reform our Electoral College desperately needs. And if we get it passed in Michigan, we’ll only need a handful more states to join in for it to go into effect.
I can’t emphasize enough how important NPV is to achieving a truly representative democracy. As it stands now, presidential candidates only want to campaign in a handful of swing states – ignoring two thirds of the country and discouraging voters from showing up at all in those states.
And I don’t need to tell you how much difference just one presidential term can make: Supreme Court Justices, executive orders, and even declaring war! The stakes are simply too high to allow an individual that didn’t win the majority vote into office.
It’s no secret we’re working in a broken system. But the solution is within reach. Already this year, members like you helped pass NPV in Minnesota, proving that your action makes a difference.
Now, I need your help to pull off another win in Michigan. Our team is telling us that it’s unlikely NPV could pass in the state next year – even though 65% of Americans support this reform.
So right now is our best opportunity to pass NPV in Michigan and use that win to build momentum in other states.
Our people’s lobbyists are working the Michigan statehouse as you read this, convincing key legislators, educating voters, and making sure we build a critical mass to fix the broken Electoral College. But we can’t get this bill across the finish line without you, John.
Can I count on you to go all in on passing NPV and rush $3 or more today to secure a more representative democracy for us all?
With you by my side, I know that we can finally fix our broken Electoral College system. Please let me know that I can count on your support.
Thank you,
