Watch our new short film and sign our petition to end captive elephant exploitation in UK zoos. |
Hello John,
Knowing how you love elephants and hate their exploitation, we wanted to tell you about our powerful new animation, ‘Enough is Enough’.
Narrated by our Founder Patron, Dame Joanna Lumley, and voiced by Kenyan actor, Foi Wambui, the evocative short film launches our new petition – calling on the UK government to phase out the keeping of elephants in UK zoos, so we can finally achieve an #ElephantFreeUK. Please sign today and forward to your family, friends and work colleagues. |
Enough is Enough tells the heartbreaking true story of Pole Pole, the young elephant whose death at London Zoo, 40 years ago this week, led to the launch of our charity. |
“ Pole Pole’s story is at the very heart of Born Free. She is our history and heritage, but she also guides our vision for the future, a future where no wild animal is exploited in captivity.”
– Dame Joanna Lumley |

40 years on, and there are still 50 elephants being kept in captivity in 11 UK zoos – we need your help to fight for elephants and bring this to an end. |

We don’t need to tell you that elephants – such intelligent, sensitive family animals – shouldn’t be kept in captivity. You can support our campaign to end the keeping of elephants in UK zoos by signing our petition today. |
Evolved to live in rich, complex societies amidst vast, wild habitats, elephants suffer physically and mentally when confined in captivity. UK zoos are net consumers of elephants with shockingly high infant mortality, poor reproductive success and reduced lifespans.
Please watch our film and join us in bringing this travesty to an end by signing our petition. Together, let’s urge the UK government to humanely phase out the keeping of elephants in UK zoos.
Enough is Enough. It’s time for a change. It’s time for an #ElephantFreeUK |
