Cooper filed a lawsuit challenging Senate Bill 749, arguing that the law — which gives the Republican-led Legislature the power to appoint members to boards of election instead of the governor — prevents him from exercising his constitutional duties and violates the state constitution.

A lawsuit alleging that former President Donald Trump, his campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) tried to disenfranchise Black voters during the 2020 election has been randomly reassigned to Judge Tanya Chutkan, the same judge in Trump's Washington, D.C. election subversion case.

Wisconsin Republicans admitted that they do not have the power to remove the state's top election official, Meagan Wolfe, and their vote to do so was only "symbolic." They concede that Wolfe is still "lawfully" holding office. Learn more about Republicans’ efforts to remove Wolfe here.
- However, the Wisconsin Senate voted to remove Democratic appointee Joseph Czarnezki from the Wisconsin Elections Commission due to his refusal to vote on Wolfe’s appointment in June. Within an hour, Gov. Tony Evers (D) appointed another Democratic member to the bipartisan commission.

A group of conservative activists has taken voter registration challenges to the extreme in the state of Washington, not only filing 28 challenges to voters’ eligibility since June but often going door-to-door to investigate the alleged illegal registrations, according to an investigation from King 5 News.
