We’ve got something fun for you today: Our Halloween issue, Spooky Mommy! We’re talking costumes, we’re talking horror movies for kids, and yes, we’re talking candy. Specifically: Do you let your kids keep their Halloween candy? Or does the “switch witch” come and take a bunch of it, or do you make your kids donate most of their candy, or… do you just eat it and blame your spouse? Meg St-Esprit writes: “As the days get shorter and my kids solidify their Halloween costume choices each fall, I begin to notice a theme in online parenting groups and playground chats,” she writes. “Not only is it time for DIY Elsa wigs and trying to figure out how an inflatable dinosaur costume works, but it’s also time for moms to get themselves worked up into a tizzy over the influx of candy about to enter their homes.” Well, she’s making the case for the free-for-all approach. Check it out. (But I still think you should feel free to raid their candy buckets… for yourself.) Kelly Faircloth, Executive Editor |
