On Monday, the Pentagon refrained from refuting a report stating that approximately 2,000 U.S. troops had received instructions to be on standby for potential deployment should Israel require assistance in its conflict with the Hamas.
Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh responded to questions about the report during a press gathering, saying, "I don't have further details to share at this moment. It's possible I may provide more information later, but presently, I lack any additional specifics to contribute."

According to the Wall Street Journal's report, roughly 2,000 troops have been directed to prepare for possible deployment in support of Israel. These troops would encompass those already stationed in the Middle East and Europe, numbering in the tens of thousands. The report did not specify the exact number intended for deployment in Israel.
Officials informed the Wall Street Journal that these troops would be assigned to missions involving advisory and medical support. The report did not specify the specific branches of the armed services they would come from but indicated they would be drawn "from across the U.S. armed services."
The report made it clear that these troops were not intended for combat roles, with no infantry units placed on a readiness-to-deploy status.
Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, spokesman for the Israeli Defense Force, stated that Israel would not request U.S. soldiers to participate in combat operations on Israeli soil, asserting, "The fighting will be carried out by the IDF," as reported by Visegrad 24.
Sabrina Singh revealed that there is already a small team augmenting the military presence at the U.S. embassy in Israel, primarily focused on aiding hostage recovery efforts.
"In terms of hostage recovery, as we've previously stated, we are providing planning and intelligence support to Israel, which is leading the effort. We do have a limited number of personnel in Israel to assist the embassy staff in this endeavor," she explained.
She further described their role as advisory and assistance, stating, "They are there to support and provide intelligence to the Israeli Defense Force, specifically regarding hostage recovery. I won't delve into further details beyond that, but their primary function is advisory and assistance."
The situation involves an unknown number of American hostages in Gaza, following terrorist attacks by Hamas militants across southern Israel, which reportedly resulted in over 1,300 casualties and the abduction of more than 100 individuals, including Americans.
