Dear John,
I want to congratulate President Biden for being the first sitting president to join a picket line.
It was a huge deal when he traveled to Michigan to stand in solidarity with striking UAW members.
But Mr. President, please don’t stop there!
We need President Biden to take on the underlying problem of our economy as well: the huge upward shift in the distribution of income and wealth over the past 30 years brought on by policies that enable and reward corporate greed.
How do we take on corporate greed? Watch this week’s video to see my free advice to President Biden, add your own thoughts, and share it with your friends.
We see this underlying problem in CEO pay that is 350 times the pay of typical workers.
We see it in monopolized industries that engage in price gouging for massive profits, then channel the monies into massive campaign donations to push for more tax cuts for the wealthy and more monopolized industries.
These policy decisions don’t just happen. They are pushed by monied interests who want to maintain control over both our economy and our democracy.
Despite what you might hear, the biggest threat to the working class over the last thirty years has nothing to do with “wokeness,” trans people, Critical Race Theory, or any other target of far right fearmongering.
The biggest threat is that, while the richest Americans become obscenely wealthy, the wealth of the bottom 50 percent hasn’t budged.
In this week’s video, I share some basic economic truths, and place the blame where it’s deserved.
I hope you’ll watch, and join me in calling on President Biden to take on corporate greed more directly as he continues his mission of building an economy that works for everyone.
