As we celebrate 50 years of Faith in Action, I’m excited to look ahead to the future of FAITH FOR LIBERATION, our core immigrant justice program focused on achieving citizenship, safety, and justice for the estimated 11.3 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

Over the years, our unwavering belief in dignity, love, and liberation for immigrant communities has brought us from church basements sheltering undocumented families to the halls of Congress to demand a pathway to citizenship.

Our movement grows stronger every day. We won’t stop until all immigrants can live in this country free from fear, and celebrate the joyous love of family and community. 

Our work not only addresses the urgency of protecting DACA status and creating a pathway to citizenship, but takes a global approach to address the root causes of migration. We’re organizing for solutions both at home and abroad that allow all people to live in safety wherever they are.

We also recognize that historically, immigrant justice movements have focused on white and Latinx communities, further marginalizing the experiences and leadership of Black immigrants. We are actively seeking to dismantle anti-Blackness in our immigration justice work. This includes pro-actively offering leadership opportunities to Black immigrants so they are ready to take prominent leadership roles in immigration justice work and bring their unique perspective to our fight for liberation. 

The truth is, we can’t stop until we’ve won justice. Immigrant justice remains a core priority for our local affiliates organizing locally. It’s a long road ahead, but we are energized, organized, and ready to go.

Mientras celebramos 50 años de Fe en Acción, estoy emocionado de ver hacia el futuro de FE POR LA LIBERACION, nuestro programa principal de justicia para los inmigrantes enfocado en lograr la ciudadanía, seguridad, y justicia para aproximadamente 11.3 millones de inmigrantes indocumentados en los EE.UU.

A través de los años, nuestra convicción inquebrantable en la dignidad, amor, y liberación para las comunidades inmigrantes nos ha llevado de los sótanos de las iglesias albergando a las familias indocumentadas hasta los corredores del Congreso para exigir un camino hacia la ciudadanía. 

Ahora, mientras vemos hacia el futuro, ¿invertirá $50 o más en el futuro de nuestra justicia para los inmigrantes con FE POR LA LIBERACIÓN?

Nuestro movimiento se fortalece todos los días.  No vamos a parar hasta que todos los inmigrantes puedan vivir en este país libres del miedo, y celebrar el amor alegre de familia y comunidad. 

Nuestro trabajo no sólo aborda la urgencia de proteger el estado de DACA y crear un camino hacia la ciudadanía, pero también toma un enfoque global para abordar las causas raíz de la migración.  Estamos organizando para obtener soluciones tanto en casa como internacionalmente que permitan que todas las personas vivan con seguridad donde sean que se encuentren.

También reconocemos que históricamente, los movimientos de justicia para los inmigrantes se han enfocado en las comunidades blancas y latinx, marginalizando aún más las experiencias y liderazgo de los inmigrantes negros.  Estamos buscando activamente desmantelar la anti-negritud con nuestro trabajo de justicia para los inmigrantes.  Esto incluye ofreciendo de manera proactiva las oportunidades de liderazgo en el trabajo de justicia migratoria y que lleven sus perspectivas singulares a nuestra lucha por la liberación. 

La verdad es, no podemos parar hasta que hayamos ganado la justicia.  La justicia para los inmigrantes se mantiene como una prioridad principal para nuestros afiliados locales organizando localmente.  Es un camino largo que tenemos por recorrer, pero estamos llenos de energía, organizados, y listos.
