John,
If you believe that corporate lobbyists have too much power then please sign our petition today.
ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council, is a group comprised of corporate lobbyists and legislators who meet behind closed doors. ALEC has repeatedly been associated with promoting policies detrimental to democracy, environmental sustainability, and individual rights.
ALEC is funded by corporate sponsors pushing their right-wing extremist ideology into legislation. ALEC’s vast legislative influence includes the passage of Stand Your Ground gun laws, racist voter ID laws, rollbacks of environmental protections, union busting, criminalization of protesting, and gutting access to reproductive healthcare.
Corporate lobbyists and interests have long infiltrated American politics and influenced the passage of detrimental legislation. It’s time to stand up and call on corporations to stop funding the American Legislative Exchange Council.
In recent years, the general public has grown tired of corporate overlords influencing the policy that governs our daily lives. Protests and boycotts have led over 100 major corporations to dump ALEC – including Google, Coca-Cola, and AT&T. However, many more continue to fund its harmful operations, even when that conflicts with the pro-environment, pro-civil rights values these corporations claim to support.
The power of our voices and buying power has made an impact in this situation before. Your voice makes a difference, and our work will continue until every corporate sponsor stops funding ALEC.
Let’s fight for each other,
Democratic Values
