Anti-choice extremists are pointing to these statistics and patting themselves on the back for a job well done. They think this proves that when you ban abortion, it just goes away! Not true.

You only have to look one state over in New Mexico to see that the number of abortions performed has skyrocketed since Arizona’s pre-statehood restrictions were in effect. Restricting reproductive rights doesn’t stop abortions from happening: it only means people have to find alternatives outside their state boundaries to get the care they need.
